The Babel Curse

As long as the "tax honesty" community continues to embrace, or even just tolerate, a cacophony of unharmonious notions, the path to victory will continue to elude far too many good folks.

SO, THE STORY GOES LIKE THIS: Back in the day, humans were getting confident in themselves. They decided to build a tower to the heavens in a city called Babel.

But Yaweh didn't like the idea, so He cursed the builders with an affliction of a multiplicity of languages. Each began speaking a different tongue from the others. Unable to work as one coordinated host, the would-be tower-builders saw their ambitious project fail.

NOW, THE STATE state ain't no god. But those who run it want it to be treated as God, with all within its reach made subject, if only by hook or by crook, to its every demand.

The key to that kind of power is control over the wealth of every man (either directly or through credible, behavior-influencing threat). To the degree that you control a man's sustenance, or the choices he must make in order to maximize and secure that sustenance, you control his will.

Knowing this path to power, the progressives who have had control of the State during its supernatural ascendancy since the the early 1940s concocted the "ignorance tax" scheme. This is a scheme under which the actually benign and highly-desirable income tax is subverted to an evil purpose.

The actual object of the income tax is the return to the public purse of a portion of the private profits enjoyed by some as a benefit of federal privileges. Under the "ignorance tax" subversion the income tax is made into an attack on the liberty and property rights of people who make no use of such gainful privileges, and whose activities are not actually subject to the tax. Under this scheme the tax reaches nearly everyone and nearly every economic act, while the income tax as actually written does not.

So, the "ignorance tax" is the dream-scheme of the progressives who control the State. It delivers to them control over Americans' choices and behaviors in ways both gross and perniciously subtle, and at the same time causes a vast river of snaffled wealth to flow into their hands for the financing of their every pet project and for taking good care of themselves and their friends.

BUT THERE'S A PROBLEM with this progressivist dream-scheme, of course. It IS just a scheme. And in 2003 it got unraveled and laid bare to any who would look, in 'Cracking the Code- The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America' (CtC). That's the good news.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, there's bad news, too. The operators of the State are crafty enough to learn from the best (even if they are very selective about what lessons they take in...).

Upon becoming aware of CtC, and even while beginning steady acknowledgements of its accuracy in the most practical and concrete terms possible, the State's operators quickly did all that they could to conceal CtC from the eyes of the very large "tax honesty" community. The last thing they wanted was that very large community coalescing around the real truth about the tax and beginning to act both knowledgeably and monolithically. This would be the end of the "ignorance tax" scheme and the restoration of the republic which they hate and have been doing all they could to destroy for the last 75 years.

The concealment effort consisted of a series of deliberate misrepresentations of CtC's unique and accurate revelations. Those revelations were made to seem just re-lipsticked versions of various old and errant notions long cluttering the landscape to those who never carefully studied the book for themselves.

CtC was variously misrepresented by trolls and more importantly by government officials as just making hoary mistaken "tax honesty" arguments such as that "wages are not income" or "only government workers are subject to the tax" (as shown here, for example). Or as saying that "the tax only applies in "federal areas"", or as promoting the filing of re-labeled Irwin Schiff "zero returns".

Some of these misrepresentations were made at a very high level (as in this example). They allowed both the trolls and the handful of corrupt government officials willing to participate in the scam to pretend to disparage or dispute the book for the misinformation of the larger public.

At the same time, and more the focus of the effort, this misrepresentation campaign kept the 30-60 million-strong "tax honesty" community from studying what CtC actually says, due to imagining it to say only something they've all seen before (and to no benefit). This effect was exacerbated by "gurus" trying to make money or cred peddling their pet theories about the tax, and therefore necessarily steering their marks away from CtC.

Initially, these misrepresentation efforts were clumsy and collapsed of their own heavy-handed weight. As time went on they became more sophisticated and much darker, as well. (The history of the campaign as a whole can be seen here, for those who are interested.)

ALL IN ALL, THE "IGNORANCE TAX" SCHEMER'S disinformation campaign successfully invoked the Babel Curse upon the "tax honesty" community. CtC's accurate and endlessly-proven revelations are, for many in that community, just another unintelligible voice.

We could be an army building not a tower, but a bridge back to our Constitutionally-limited republic by shrinking the State down to its intended and original small, efficient and humble-servant status.. Instead, those in the "tax honesty" community are still scattered and hieing-off down forty-seven different paths-- forty-six of which lead nowhere except off the real field of battle and into the discouraging thickets.

It's such a shame. I hope I last long enough to see the people shrug-off this State-laid curse and begin marching as one, to the benefit of all.

“Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant--they have been cheated; asleep--they have been surprised; divided--the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson?…the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government they should watch over it....It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free.”
