FOREWORD

Among much else you're about to enjoy in this latest edition of the Lost Horizons News, you will see the latest demonstrations of the fact that what is presented on this website and in 'Cracking the Code- The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America' about the income tax is the complete and exclusive truth.  These are not legally-meaningless, bullet-dodging acquittals, or hair-splitting analyses of something imagined to be found in some portion of the law.  Instead, they are concrete, sometimes initially (and sometimes elaborately) contested acknowledgements-- in a wide variety of forms-- by the IRS and (so far) 33 state tax agencies of the fundamental, comprehensive and singular accuracy of the information found in, and only in, CtC.  After reading them, you will sit back in your chair with the same quiet confidence you have enjoyed ever since you first learned the truth for yourself.

You will reflect upon the endless series of victories being won by those who act upon the knowledge gained from this site and CtC.  You will reflect upon the hundreds and hundreds of documents of state and federal authorities posted on this site acknowledging and confirming what you have learned.  You will chuckle wryly at the fact that even throughout the hundreds of fulminating pages of legal briefs filed by the government in its multi-year-old PR "lawsuit" against my wife and me there is not a single effort made to actually dispute what I teach about the law in CtC, despite prodigious efforts to imply such a challenge.

For instance, if ever there was an occasion to just say plain out that "Hendrickson says his earnings are not "wages", but that is wrong because all earnings of those working for someone else are "wages"", this "lawsuit" would be it.  And yet, throughout several hundred pages of elaborate filings (to characterize their deliberately confusing complexity in the most charitable way possible)-- and in a venue where it is obliged to make its best case, and has no credible reason for anything but simple frankness-- the government which aches to have you and everyone else BELIEVE that this is so, and ACT as though this is so, just CAN'T and WON'T declare that this is so.

If ever there was a time to just say plain out that "Hendrickson says not everyone working for someone else is an "employee" within the meaning of that term in chapter 24 of the IRC, but that is wrong-- everyone working for someone else is an "employee" within the meaning of that term in chapter 24 of the IRC", this would be the time.  And yet, throughout several hundred pages of elaborate filings-- and in a venue where it is obliged to make its best case, and has no credible reason for anything but simple frankness-- the government which aches to have you and everyone else BELIEVE that this is so, and ACT as though this is so, just CAN'T and WON'T make that plain and frank declaration.

If ever there was a time to say, "Hendrickson's wrong about the significance, effect, and utility of a tax return (and we have exercised our authority to change, override or disregard returns such as the Hendricksons')", this would be the time.

Instead, the government's ENTIRE "argument" is: "So-and-so (whoever typed up a couple of W-2s) says Hendrickson was an "employee", and that his earnings were "wages"".  That's it.

Instead, the government is stuck with begging the court to order us to change our returns, and to command us not to file inconvenient returns in the future.  That's it.

In short, as has been consistently true in every effort the government has made to discourage people from learning the liberating truth since CtC first appeared, everything the government DOES say, and everything it carefully does not, simply acknowledges that truth, and emphasizes the fact that the only answer the government and other beneficiaries of the "income" tax scheme have to CtC is bluster, belligerence and BS.

(Needless to say, this suit was commenced simply to intimidate those who had already learned the truth from CtC into inaction and the subsequent sacrifice of another year's improper "income" tax bite; and to equip the IRS and its tools to darkly warn those who had not yet learned the truth into continued ignorance, with a disparaging, "Hendrickson?  Forget him.  He's being sued!".

In order to get this benefit, it was only necessary that the suit get past immediate dismissal.  Suggesting to a judge that probably knows less about tax law than you do that she has the authority to dictate the content of someone else's tax return-- and that the resulting return would be legally meaningful, as well-- sufficed.  Sadly, federal judges are all-too-accustomed to hearing, and trying to accommodate, fanciful notions from government attorneys, and thus are willing to entertain even the most outlandish, and ultimately futile, propositions, at least on the district court level.  The court does not have that authority, of course, but the point is that even while engaged in this legal contortion, the government must acknowledge the ultimate and inescapable primacy of a filer's return.)

ANYWAY... You'll reflect on all these things, and then you'll download your email and find your "inbox" filled with lies, distortions and distractions about the tax ranging from the merely foolish to the outright fraudulent, and everything in between.  Or you'll visit your newsgroups, and see the same.  Then, the odds are, you'll proceed to do... nothing.

You won't make any effort to correct or halt the nonsense at all.  At best, you'll delete or ignore the garbage; at worst, you'll actually forward it so that it can distract others, or even waste your own time reading it through.  Some of you will actually forward it to me, and ask me to explain whether whatever it asserts is true, or where or why it isn't.  I deal with scores of emails every day, and far too many are of this type.

These can no longer be the "default" responses to this nonsense.  YOU know the truth, and you have to help spread that truth, and debunk the errors and lies.  I can't continue to produce and provide resources such as what you are about to read when I am alone, or nearly alone, in responding to errors and nonsense, and frankly, I can't stop this dangerous infection of misunderstanding by myself, even if I were to do nothing else.

Most weeks you see entreaties in the newsletter that you visit www.losthorizons.com/tax/Misunderstandings/map.htm and read everything through.  How many of you have actually done this?  Precious few.  Thus, nonsensical distractions and outright lies that dramatically hinder our mutual effort to restore the rule of law are endlessly perpetuated, instead of being instantly and forcefully responded to by a multitude of voices with a reference to material that will comprehensively put them to rest and allow everyone to move forward with actual facts, and clear thinking.

Again, I can't do this alone.  Please do all you can to help.

P. S. Some of you DO make the effort to help already, and your efforts are much appreciated.  This admonishment is not directed to you, of course, nor to those of you who are new to all of this...
